WOOD, LIGHT, WOOD
DASHED is a 25-meter tall art installation rising in the central atrium of the new International Business Academy (IBA) in Kolding, Denmark. The piece is consisting of seven vertical dashed lines of light running in the full height of the monumental space. The individual line segments are based on 2-meter long custom-made fixtures integrated between the wooden slats covering the central core of the building.
A BUSY SPACE
Due to the architectural transparency and the large stair running from bottom to top feeding the adjacent balconies, the art installation can be seen from almost any location in the building. From the busy entrance area, the entire installation is visible from the ground floor to the skylight. The dashed layout of the fixtures and the lighting design creates a connection from the bottom to the top, from inside the building to the sky outside, aimed at subtly reminding the students of their connection to the outside world and the goal of their studies.
OUR ROLE
Kollision designed the art installation in dialogue with Kjaer & Richter. The custom made fixtures and additional hardware units were developed by Moto Muto. The dynamic lighting design and content are designed by Kollision and are scheduled and handled by Kollision’s MAP player.
