NORDHAVN – DOORS
THE NORDHAVN EXHIBITION
In relation to the exhibition ”Nordhavn – the sustainable city of the future” presenting the plans for the municipality of Copenhagen’s ambitious development of Nordhavnen in Copenhagen, Denmark, Kollision was asked to develop an interactive installation capable of counting visitors and visualising their routes through six individual doors at the exhibition.
The six doors were situated between two of the three pavilions at the exhibition. Each door represented one of six themes of the exhibition. The aim of the installation was to create an awareness of each theme as visitors move from one pavilion to the next, by letting the visitors choose between themes by entering different doors, e.g. a rabbit hole or the door to a shop.
Kollision designed and implemented a system based on wireless PIR sensors monitoring movement through the six doors, passing the data to a server and storing the visitor count in a database. The visitor count, representing movements through the six doors, were displayed on a screen presenting a real-time visualisation of the ranking of themes based on the number of visitors who had entered through a specific doorway.
