MISSIONZERO MINE
Demand for minerals is expected to double by 2050 and it is essential that governments and industry ensure that supply is reliable and sustainable, as the urgency to deal with climate change accelerates. FLSmidth is a Danish company operating within the global mining and cement industry. Both sectors represent a massive environmental footprint and FLSmidth is working hard to push the limits for a more sustainable mining industry. In 2021 Kollision helped FLSmidth design and implement an exhibition explaining the numerous areas being optimised to move towards the MissionZero Mine.
INTERACTIVE FLOWSHEETS & TABLES
Kollision has collaborated with FLSmidth on two different installations for communicating their transition towards more sustainable mining processes. The interactive flowsheet is an application explaining the complex step of processes going from the ore all the way to the final commodity. The flowsheet application depicts a typical mining flow of today as well as a substantially more sustainable mining flow of the future. The standalone application is used on trade shows, but is also available on the web at missionzeromine.com.
The other installation is designed as a large wooden CNC-milled landscape visualising a three dimensional version of The MissionZero Mine - from pit to dry stack tailings. Through projections, animations and 3D printed models representing novel processes and machinery visitors can gather around the 5 metre table and get a glimpse of the areas in which FLSmidth is moving the boundaries in relation to minimising water, waste and energy consumption as well as minimising the physical footprint by reestablishing natural habitats. The potential savings and reductions are based on calculations for a 100,000 TPD plant (tonnes per day). Read more about the FLSmidth MissionZero Mine here.

TOURING THE WORLD
The two installations have been on display at MineExpo in Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2021 and at the SME Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah in March 2022. In January 2022 a second table was produced and placed permanently at the FLSmidth HQ in Valby, Copenhagen as part of the FLSmidth's 140th anniversary.
Additionally Kollision has produced a 'virtual' version of the MissionZero Mine table to be used at smaller tradeshow events on a touchscreen and first used in Dubai, November 2021.
