RØNDE

THE COMPETITION
In 2002, the Danish Architects Association and the Municipality of Rønde announced an open architectural competition for the planning of a new residential area outside the town Rønde. Rønde is an attractive town near woods and water, and within commuting distance of Aarhus. The aim was to create a plan that took both development possibilities and natural resources into account.
SEVERAL TYPOLOGIES
Our proposal was based on the idea of using the turning space at the end of the road in traditional single-family housing areas in Denmark. By using the turning space as small town squares with various activities and creating several housing typologies surrounding the square, we wanted to create a new interpretation of a very traditional living arrangement.
LANDSCAPE
The site contained a number of areas with unstable subsoil, which at the beginning of the development would be used for creating landscaped parks and subsequently developed when the need would arise.
