TREKRONER WORKSHOP
11.11.2002
BACKGROUND
In 2002, the Municipality of Roskilde hosted a workshop facilitated by UID. The aim of the workshop aimed was launch the development process concerning the areas around Trekroner East just outside Roskilde, Denmark. The area is in close proximity to RUC - Roskilde University and a plan for an expansion of local infrastructure and the construction of a new school made the area attractive to various groups of potential citizens.
FIVE TEAMS
The workshop lasted five days and was organized so that the entire area was divided into five sub-areas, each of which were the responsibility of a team to develop. Each team was led by a upcoming architectural office; PLOT (now JDS Architects and BIG), PlanB (now NORD Architects), UiD, and Kollision. Each team was teamed up with an artist - Kollision with Ane Mette Ruge - and a number of local citizens with knowledge of the area, youth environments, planning, etc. Kollision’s contribution was made in collaboration with Jacob Blak Henriksen.
PEARLS ON A PATH
Our team worked with an elongated sub-region, which after long and interesting discussions was seen as a path in which the group's various approaches to urbanization, structure and nature manifested itself in various ways. This resulted in a landscaping of the path, an element that cuts down to, is in line with or rises above the landscape and thus offers a variety of experiences along the path. The project was developed by the entire group using cardboard, glue, photos, sketches, 3D models etc.
