WHO IS GOING TO BE YOUR NEIGHBOUR?

EXHIBITION & WORKSHOP
In October 2008, Kollision designed the exhibition concept ‘Who is going to be your neighbour?’ for the Municipality of Køge. The exhibition was part of a workshop at Køge Skitsesamling for the Autumn break in 2008. At the workshop, citizens had the opportunity to develop ideas for future lifestyles and housing types. The workshop was part of a process to develop a housing policy in for the Municipality of Køge. The new policy aimed to provide diversified housing, supporting socially sustainable communities and promoting the municipality as an attractive place to settle in the Øresund Region. The project was realised with the help of several collaborators, including Plan09. Kollision organized the material for the exhibition, while SBI and Geomatic ApS delivered parts of the content. The Municipality of Køge in collaboration with the School of Visual Arts at Køge skitsesamling facilitated the workshop.
WORKSHOP FORMAT
The purpose of the workshop was to test new methods of dialogue and reflection, and also learn about the latest trends in housing and urban development, both within and outside the municipality. The workshop was aimed at both children and adults. Citizens were invited to draw and build models of future housing projects, and furnish the municipality with new ideas for municipal housing development through collages, photos and clippings.
EXHIBITION CONCEPT
Kollision designed a postcard as an invitation to the exhibition. The exhibition itself consisted of a 2x2m map of the municipality in which the participants at the workshop could hang pictures and drawings of the accommodation facilities, which they considered important for a future housing policy. Besides the map, the participants could explore four posters, which served as inspiration for the workshop. One poster presented fine-grained analysis of different segments of citizens, while another referred to various residential facilities.
