CONFERENCE HALL

As part of the new headquarters for The Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), a modern and fully equipped conference hall has been designed by the architects Transform. The conference hall can accommodate a large audience and a variety of activities. The walls are made of corian elements, which stand out from the wall at an angle creating a multifaceted relief effect. The angled surfaces break down the large space into human scale and furthermore contribute to a good acoustic. Between the wall elements there are narrow vertical gaps with integrated strips of LED lights. The light strips run on the sidewalls in disconnected sections following the fragmented layout of the corian elements and are sewed together by following the underside of the supporting construction in the ceiling that runs in a large zigzag shape from end to end. This creates a scattered yet spatially coherent light expression that draws a tunnel of light from the entrance of the space to the speaker’s area.

Kollision together with Martin Professional worked with DI in developing a series of lighting designs supporting the different activities in the conference hall. Kollision finalized the lighting designs and integrated them in the Kollision 3D player system which allows DI to choose a theme in relation to the activity in the hall. Among them; slow fades in multiple colors running from end to end, and hereby gently guiding the audience to enter or leave; lines running up one wall, crossing the ceiling and down on the other side; spatially calculated light effects bouncing from wall to wall; sparkling themes; levels, staves, dots etc. In total, the themes cover a range from slow, subtle and formal expressions to more playful and event oriented.
