SPAREKASSEN KRONJYLLAND

In collaboration with SGM Kollision developed and implemented a fully integrated solution for dynamic façade lighting at Sparekassen Kronjylland's headquarters in Randers. The project transforms the building's exterior into a media architectural canvas, capable of expressing corporate branding, events, and various moods through custom-designed light programming.
The double glass facade of the Sparekassen Kronjylland headquarters is divided into approximately 100 individual chambers, each measuring 1.8 meters by 12 meters - a total of 2.200 square meters. An SGM washlight fixture, controllable in four DMX segments, is installed in each chamber to illuminate the outer facade with silk print. The fixtures are physically mapped around the entire building to control subtle, real-time light expressions, which interact with the layers of glass, construction, sun shades, and office spaces.

The installation delivers complex and coherent lighting effects, powered by Kollision’s MAP (Media Architecture Platform) control system, which allows for precise 3D calculated lighting expressions across the entire façade. The system includes a series of unique light designs that transforms the building into a media architectural canvas for daily expressions as well as events and celebrations, displaying full-color lighting designs selected via a simple web interface (Launchpad). On regular days, the system's intelligent, automated operation - leveraging calendar control and an online weather station - ensures the most appropriate lighting design and intensity, actively strengthening the bank's visual landmark presence in the central cityscape.

The control system is anchored around Kollision’s MAP player. The facade lighting is based on high end SGM fixtures integrated behind the outer glass facade and iGuzzini luminaires illuminating the outside entrance area installed on the columns, mounted by custom-designed flexible white brackets developed by Kollision. The system utilizes DMX/KNX/DALI for robust and precise control across the different lighting fixtures. Kollision was responsible for the media architecture, light design, and developed the system architecture together with SGM.
