NATIONAL EXHIBITION 2009
10.04.2008
THE PROJECT
The aim of the project ‘National Exhibition 2009’ was to provide information about the National Exhibition anno 1909 in Aarhus - also called the white city - through an interactive 3D model distributed on the Internet. The idea was to let users navigate the model freely and access site-specific data and historical information in the form of text, images, sound and film to experience the National Exhibition in 1909 and the contemporary development of the city of Aarhus.
INTERACTIVE DEMONSTRATOR
Through a series of presentations and workshops we helped Danish Centre for Urban History develop ideas for using interactive 3D as a communicative tool and in collaboration with CAVI we produced an interactive demonstrator using a sample of the project. The demonstrator was designed to investigate opportunities and constraints and was used to apply for funding to implement the project. We created a sample of three characteristic buildings as well as an example of an archetypal industrial worker in the 3D model, complete with examples of related historical material in the form of texts, images, sounds and movies.
REALISATION
The project received support from the Culture Net Denmark with the aim of realising an entire interactive 3D model of the exhibition area with associated historical information. Based on the prototype CAVI finished the demonstrator, which was used in connection with the centenary of the National Exhibition and subsequent exhibitions.
