MCH Entrance

In 2019 Kollision completed a dynamic light installation for the BOXEN extension designed by Cubo architects. In 2020 Cubo completed the redesign of the nearby entrance to the MCH. To create a coherent connection between the two projects that exist as part of the same building structure, Cubo reused the triangular pneumatic facade elements in the entrance project. Kollision was commissioned to deliver a system for controlling the 201 Martin Exterior light sources.

The entrance design can be seen as three lanterns each made up by inflatable triangles capable of catching the dynamic wash light. All light sources are mapped in 3D space enabling the Kollision MAP player to illuminate the lanterns in a variety of patterns and expressions. The staff at MCH are provided with a realtime 3D player for previewing content before scheduling the welcoming light based on the events taking place at the facility.

Kollision in collaboration with Martin Professional designed, mapped and addressed the fixture layout. Kollision delivered a MAP server and player for the client to take control over the content running on the three lanterns as well as an initial set of content designs utilising a number of ways to structure and layer the different expressions.
