MULTI CELL PLATFORM

IN THE HEART OF COPENHAGEN
In autumn 2019 Kollision was commissioned to design a flexible exhibition system for The Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) to be used in the foyer of the headquarters facing the busy town hall square in the centre of Copenhagen. The basic idea is a generic exhibition platform which accommodates changing exhibitions over time.
CELLS, CELLS AND MORE CELLS
Through design workshops with the client Kollision developed the concept Multi Cell Platform which is based on a series of table-like furnitures divided into cells with integrated light sources. The cells can function individually or be merged into larger areas. The cells can contain traditional prints of text and graphics, translucent boxes in varying heights, glass montres for showcasing smaller objects as well as touch screens displaying videos and websites. The RGBW light sources in the individual cells are dynamically controlled by Kollision's MAP player. During the day, cells, boxes and glass montres are lit with mainly white light and only subtle colors, giving a calm expression that slides into more colors and effects in the evening catching bypassers attention through the large glass facade. A web interface enables DI to trigger a number of effects and light scenarios on demand. This allows for quickly changing the expression of the exhibition e.g. in relation to activities in the city or in the building.
OUR ROLE
Kollision designed the Multi Cell Platform and the software system making use of Kollision’s MAP player. DI developed the exhibition content and communication in the shape of prints, as well as movies running on the integrated screens.
