OUR ROLE
Ørestad Library opened on June 7th, 2012 in a building designed by KHR at Arne Jacobsens Allé. Kollision’s role in the project was to create a virtual/aesthetic profile for the building, with a specific focus on allowing users to be co-producers of content.
MOSAIC
After a series of workshops with users and staff, we agreed upon a profile based on Kollision’s Mosaic-software, which collects video, text and pictures from social media such as YouTube, Picasa, Flickr, Google Spreadsheet etc. The Mosaic allows users to publish their own content, using existing social media instead of creating a proprietary system. The Mosaic presents the content in a characteristic format creating a distinctive aesthetic profile for the library. The Mosaics, created by the users and the staff at the library, are shown on two large video walls on the central pillars. Each video wall is controlled by touchscreens at the base of the pillars.
MAPWEB
We also created two touch-based installations based on Kollision’s MapWeb software. One installation is aimed at wayfinding and the other at creating a learning space for pupils from Ørestad School visiting the library. MapWeb is a flash-based CMS, allowing the staff to upload pictures, video and text to a large ‘map’, which users can navigate on the two touchscreens built into furniture designed by Claus Bjarrum Arkitekter.
