TREKRONER
19.12.2002
PROPOSAL
Based on the work and ideas created during a workshop in November 2002, Kollision, in collaboration with Jacob Blak Henriksen, outlined a proposal for Roskilde Municipality concerning the planning of Trekroner East in Roskilde, Denmark. The proposal was intended as inspiration and qualification of potential project types in the area.
PATHS AND POINTS
The project was conceived as a subproject of the overall structuring of Trekroner East. The project presents paths in an east/west direction. The main idea was developed at a workshop with participants who had a varying knowledge of the area and different desires and interests in relation to how it was to be used. Based on these diverging needs and wishes, the project aimed at creating a varied landscape, which would affect the types of activities and housing planned in the area by creating a variety of identities. The landscape itself was overlaid with a playful art and information system that acts as a communicative layer for the people in and around the paths.
THE PROCESS
The initial weeklong workshop created a strong focus in the media, and various invited stakeholders became actively engaged in the process. In many ways the project was a classic example of the value of participatory design processes when concerning the development of urban spaces.
