URBAN PLATFORM

Imagine a simple platform based on three moving heads and a motion sensor placed in an urban space. The possibilities of the light sources are only limited by the software that can be expanded to a myriad of expressions, games, different rule-based experiences and dynamic lighting scenarios. In certain modes you can compete against your friends and other times the platform appears more calm but colorful and invites you to explore lights and shadows. You decide how you want to use the platform - is it about winning a game, taking a nice picture in the light, or maybe inventing your own game? We call the installation Urban Platform.

In collaboration with Aarhus Municipality, Urban Platform is permanently installed on a small lively square, Telefontorvet in the heart of Aarhus, where passers-by are free to use the platform, or perhaps just settle down and watch how others interact. After dark life and activity arise in many variations and later in the evening the light design transitions to a calmly sweeping theme that lights up the square and makes you feel more safe in the city space until the sun rises again.

Urban Platform is controlled by Kollision's MAP player, that handles tracking of users and controls themes and content based on a calendar function, local sun angles and weather conditions. Additionally, Kollision has designed the physical installation and the integration at the square is handled by Aarhus Municipality. The moving heads are provided by SGM Light.
